COMMUNITY EDUCATION
On February
14, 1984, the Columbus
AIDS Task Force (CATF) was incorporated as the only non-profit agency in the
state of Ohio existing solely to address the AIDS
crisis. CATF was at that time a volunteer-only
agency that met in the living rooms of Board Members and volunteers. The goals were to develop a program model to
help care for those with AIDS and to educate the
Columbus community about the disease. Since then CATF has provided education to
thousands of people in many different locations. Volunteers and staff present education
information about HIV and STD transmission and prevention or the personal
aspects of living with HIV/AIDS to members of area churches, schools, and
businesses.
